How to reach infamy with the written word.

A UK teenager plotted a massacre in his diaries. He included detailed plans of attacks on two schools, a mosque, council offices and his local university.

In his notes, the 18-year-old wrote about arming himself with guns, bombs, and knives to emulate the Monster of Oslo, Breivik. (Mass killer Breivik shot 69, mainly teenagers, at a camp on the Norwegian island of Utøya in July 2011.) The teenager claimed it had just been a way of venting his anger rather than a serious plan.

The A-level student was cleared of preparing an act of terrorism yesterday after a second Old Bailey jury could not reach a decision. He was freed because people are never tried for a third time. But he will be sentenced on June 13 after admitting possessing a knife and parts for an improvised explosive device.

After two juries couldn't agree on his guilt, I won't comment apart to say that he should be watched.

Who knows where the inspiration for writing comes from? The thing that makes me sick is the way he's received so much notoriety by writing wicked plans.

If only my novels could achieve acclaim. But I write about the goodness in people and how they strive to understand the lessons life presents. And most of all, my novels are about redemption.

In STILL ROCK WATER & TIDAL SURGE, Liliha experiences visions. She inhabits other minds and bodies during a critical time. By whispering advice, she sways their decision or helps them in a time of need. If I wrote about the case in question, Liliha would be called to his place of incarceration at the time the perp. made his initial choice about who to befriend.

I only hope the young man can turn away from the path leading to hell.

Redemption is a much more inspiring theme than destruction -- and harder to achieve in real life.

Ever since the film 'If' kids have thought about doing bad things against things that they thought were oppressing them.

I'm glad that this 18 year old didn't follow through though.
