What to throw away.

Yesterday afternoon, a 71 year-old man found the body of a newborn baby girl in a wheelie bin in North Yorkshire, UK. just minutes before rubbish was due to be collected in a communal waste area.

Police have issued an urgent appeal to trace the infant's mother. A spokesman said, "Enquiries are at a very early stage and our primary concern is to locate the mother of the new born baby girl to ensure that she receives urgent medical care. It is highly likely that the mother is in a very distressed state and needs professional support. We urge her to contact the police or medical staff as a matter of urgency as her health and wellbeing is the priority." Read more from the Mirror.

Just last week, a baby was found in a storm drain in Australia.

What is going wrong? Some people try so hard to produce a baby of their own, while others are throwing them away in the most heartless manner. Life is precious—each child a new soul.

How does this tie in with throwing things away, you might ask.

Well, I'm coming to face my dilemma about whether to continue writing my blog.

Only this morning, I received two nominations for the Liebster Award. But that's just blog writers who pass the offer along in a tier effect, which gradually builds until every blogger in the world has received one.

You might wonder why I would want to stop writing every day since doing so for the last two years. (Some of you might think, 'about time too.') Although roughly 1,000 people every day read my views on news, plus about 80 a day from last year's separate blog, I gain nothing and give far too much time to my effort. I'd rather spend more time writing novels. Since the blog was established to showcase my writing ingenuity, it hasn't resulted in the longed-for sales of my novels. End of rant.

So how does this tie in with throwing away babies? I'm sure you can guess.

However, a real baby is a precious form of life, whereas a blog is simply a creation of words—like a book. And I don't give them away.

As the expression goes: Why flog a dead horse? Your views?

I say, don't throw it away. I always enjoy reading your posts, even though I don't comment on every one, and so do 1000 others.
Chin up and keep writing :)

My dear Francene, I did read about both of those sad cases, but I sincerely hope you don't throw out YOUR baby! I think you probably reach and touch more readers than you realize with your valuable "creation of words" here on your blog.

It's just (as I've discovered) not everyone who reads takes the time to comment, yet those encouraging words (again, from personal experience) can be just what we writers need to read as validation of what we are taking the time to write and publish.

Perhaps, if the daily blogging is what is weighing on you, cut back to every other day, and devote the non-blogging days to your book writing. Just a suggestion! :)

Since I had encouraged you to blog through 2014, I wanted to send some encouragement your way. I just wish I had suggestions. You may want to rethink (as much as I enjoy your posts) the "in the news" and concentrate more on promoting your books. For example, Google, for example "Sue Ann Bowling", an author (who, sadly, is terminally ill and therefore no longer posting daily - although she did so for over 10 years) She is a retired college professor and a science fiction writer. There are other authors who have successfully blogged books. I can't tell you how to do that, though. I agree that staying with something that doesn't work is foolish. But, please, don't throw out that baby just yet. I think you can find a way to continue the blog, and make money from it. I wish you all the best, whatever you decide.

Don't throw out the baby with the bath water as the saying goes Francene. I sure do hope you consider writing, if not daily, at least once or twice weekly as I consider you a gifted and creative writer even writing about real news stories: such interesting pieces of knowledge you impart to us your readers. You and your blog would surely be missed. I think there may be a way of earning money with your blog; however, you may need to check with others experienced in this field. Good luck whatever you decide, but give us a warning so we can at least bid you farewell, though hopefully, of course, we won't need to do that! ;) <3
