PictureWunsy - parrot
While taking her regular stroll in the park, a London woman was pushed to the ground last week by a mid-twenties blond-haired man. But the would-be robber hadn't taken her companion into account. Her African Grey parrot swooped from the sky to the rescue.

The parrot Wunsy beat him about the head with powerful wing flaps and emitted piercing squawks. The startled attacker tried to fend off the brave bird but abandoned his robbery attempt and fled empty-handed. Neither was hurt in the attack.

After the assault, the man ran off in the direction of Great North Road. He was wearing beige trousers and carrying a dark black rucksack. The police are very keen to trace the suspect and prevent him from attacking anybody else, who might not have a bird to guard them.

African Greys have a wingspan of around 20 inches. They are one of the most talkative parrot breeds and can live up to 50 years.

Long ago, I fell in love with an Australian white cockatoo with yellow feathers on its head. It's lucky I didn't adopt him, because I left the country several years later and couldn't have taken him with me. Have you ever lived with a bird?

Wow! What a story! I've only ever had goldfish and hamsters as pets and they were no use defending me whatsoever, although the hamsters did have a mean bite.

Haha. I'd love to see a goldfish knocking against the glass to defend you.

That's the first time I've heard of a bird saving someone. Fantastic story, Francene.

I've had a blackbird divebomb me if I get close to its nest. This must be the same thing.

We had a budgie called 'Pecker' yeas ago. He was found under a neighbour's bush and we took him in. He was a monster! Used to peck you to bits...

I can remember having a couple of smaller birds in the past, but nothing very big. How luck that she had her bird there to protect her!
