Does size matter?

A new survey by the UK's dating site Illicit Encounters points to the revelation that size plays a major role when women are choosing their partners.

With over 900,000 members, their research has indicated that men over the average height of 5ft 10 are more than twice as likely to cheat than their shorter counterparts.

Celebrities caught in extramarital tangles would seem to prove this theory. But then, it's hard to name a person in the public eye who has remained faithful to one partner for life. Money, fame, and the power that goes with it, seems to sway the balance between decency and temptation.

A spokesperson for married dating site, illicit encounters.com, Mike Taylor said: "Ladies might want to rethink the classic, tall dark and handsome requirements when looking for a loyal partner, as only 32% of the male members on Illicit Encounters are under 5ft 9.

"I think small man syndrome could mean that shorter men are not as confident with women. A number of females I know will not even look at a man under 6ft, even though they are shorter themselves.

"There is also a certain confidence that comes with height, and guys know that it gives them edge over shorter guys."

Perhaps women should stop looking for the tall, dark and handsome man and go for one who loves and respects her. Read more of the Daily Star report here.

I admit to falling for the fairy story. Or do I mean cartoon? All my life I've been taller than most people at 5'10”. Back in the 60s when I was a teenager in Australia, there were very few tall boys about. I came to accept my status (hehe) but kept my eye out for someone on the same level. Maybe that's why I chose unwisely. But, I have to admit I fell hopelessly in love with my first husband.

My second husband is taller than I am too, and he's remained faithful over our 25 years together.

However, every time I see a tall man, my spine straightens and I rise inches in stature.

What do you think about tall men? Does height make any difference to their fidelity?

I'm only a medium height (5"10) height shouldn't really matter, but I personally wouldn't want to date a man who was shorter than me. They'd have to be tiny!

Francene, I've always been amused by the fact that we lift people up (no pun intended) for something they have absolutely no control over. "He's so TALL," a woman says reverently. Of course a man's character and his heart is much more important than how tall he is, but we still swoon over the way he looks. Silly us.

I've never understood this either!

I'm no expert but I can see how this would be true..
Taller mean are seen as a better catch (history goes to show this!)... Shorter men often lack some confidence based on their shorter height... therefore taller would men would sub consciously think they are "better" and less likely to get caught because they are seen as better.... Shorter men would cheat less because they are already working to find a lady..

Not exactly those terms.. but I hope you get my point :)

I had partners who where average and some were tall...I am 165cm (whatever that is in feet and inch), none of them cheated. ( as far as I know).
But I have a friend who is very tall and he's been divorced and separated three times so far.
When I choose a partner I learned that size doesn't matter, love and respect and having fun, that's really important.

I don't think a mans height has anything to do with it tbh, it's down to their personalities, if it's in their nature and how over confident they are, I've know short men to cheat, and I've known tall men to cheat. We can't control who we are attracted too either, like I've always found taller men are what I gravitate to.
