Does a break in routine matter?

On the first day of 2015, I slept in this morning. No, I didn't celebrate the dawn of a new calendar year. The days will progress without my greeting. Maybe I'm a grumpy old woman, but random bangs woke me at the appointed hour. I guess young revelers were convincing themselves that the new year would bring better fortune. And there's nothing wrong with that. Hope gives drive to your schedule.

My late arising disrupted my routine. Oh, yes, I'm a creature of habit. I cut short some exercises, meditated, and then hurried into the kitchen and ate some fruit—not fresh. No time to peel and lovingly prepare. I swallowed the usual four prunes, canned in juice, and one quarter of a ripe pear I'd prepared earlier. After dressing I ate a bowl of porridge.

Now, here I am, left without the time to read all the news items to find a suitable story to present to you. Writing and selecting suitable pictures to elaborate the piece normally takes me one and a half hours.

Okay. I didn't do that.

But, does it matter if we are running late? Most people will have the day off work on New Years Day, and will expect to rise late. For me, every day is the same, being deemed unfit for a proper job because of disability, and, most of all, age.

Am I letting my readers down by not presenting a proper snippet of news?

This brings me to the subject of whether to continue my daily blog. I've decided to go on for as long as the inspiration drives me. No reason to stop just because I make no money doing so. Other bloggers press their readers to make money in various ways. That doesn't appeal to me.

I'd rather write more novels, (which need your attention by the way. I promise you, they're undiscovered diamonds—well, moonstones. One click on any of the covers will take you to an Amazon near you.)

And so, barring an interruption in schedule, I'll continue on this blog for now. Should make a new one which incorporates following years. That takes time. For the moment, I'll break out of my cocoon and rise like a butterfly to suck from the nectar of views on news.

Update: I've made a new Weebly blog.

I find that if it is just me who is disrupted it doesn't matter too much. However, if my sons routine is disrupted, it does.

Don't blog because you feel you have to, blog because you want to x

I think you should continue to blog daily for as long as you want to. You cleary write because you enjoy it and have a love for it, so do what makes you happy! Also nothing wrong with having a lie in, does us all good! Happy new year! x

In 1997, I quit a job along with several other co workers (an intolerable situation). The first day unemployed, I had a feeling that my first action would determine the rest of my unemployment experience. I went to an exercise class instead of watching TV. Today, January 1 I awoke, and blogged even before eating breakfast, a break in tradition for me. Break from tradition, Francene, is my unsolicited advice for today. You may be pleased at where it takes you. This blog is about your readers, but it is also about you and what gives you pleasure and fulfillment. If you're happy, I am sure we will be happy, too. Surprise us!

Hi Francene,
A break in routine is perfectly good,, especially on the morning of a new year. In Japan, people don't DO anything from Christmas until a few days after the New Year. I remember the break in my routine that year. The streets were silent. No one out and about. My then boyfriend and I went to the temple to ring a large, very old bell and tack a message written in kanjii on a board alongside several other messages. I looked at the sake barrels and said, "This is their tradition. I'm breaking from mine." That was New Year's Day 1991. Breaking tradition can be fun! Enjoy the first day of 2015!

Happy 2015. I also didn't see the new year in either. We're all creature of habits...I couldn't go cold turkey not making any new year goals although I made then general and simple.

Coffee is on

I'm definitely a creature of habit. The whole summer holidays for school broke up my normal routine and I find it hard to make a new one. Giod on you for continuing to blog, Francene. I look forward to reading your new one.

Breaking tradition is great to add some zest and spice to your life, don't you think Francene? If you hadn't told us, we wouldn't know you slept in, didn't have time to read the daily news, etc. However, we couldn't care less per se, that is, we are happy just to hear from you about whatever you write and whenever you write as I so enjoy your writings...and today's too (ok, well speaking for myself at least!) Wishing you a breaking-from-tradition 2015! ;) <3
